Notice for Local Stakeholder Consultation Meeting at Seven of EDL-Gen’s Hydropower plants
The local stakeholder consultation meeting for seven hydropower projects by EDL Generation Public Company will be held during 12-14 January 2022, at the project site. These projects are included Nam Khan 2, Nam Ngum 1 Extension, Houay Lamphanh Gnai, Nam Khan 3, Xeset 3, Xeset 2 Extension and Nam Chiane Hydropower project.
The purpose of these projects is to generate clean energy by using the hydro power and providing the energy to the grid. By implementing the project, EDL-Gen as the project proponent also aims to reduce dependency to the fossil fuels thereby reducing the sources of environmental pollution.
These projects are going through a certification process to adhere to the international ‘Global Carbon Council' (GCC), which utilizes innovative approaches to quantify, certify and maximize impacts towards climate security process under the GCC requirements. As part of the process, this consultation meeting is required. In order to discuss the development and benefits of this project and understand the concerns and opinion of the stakeholders. Thus, during the meeting experts will explain what carbon credits are and what role they play in the proposed project.
Therefore, all interested villagers, local community members, NGOs and other interested stakeholders are invited.
