On 29 September 2026, a delegation from EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen), together with authorities from Luang Prabang Province and Xieng Ngeun District, conducted a field visit to monitor the living conditions and livelihoods of communities in the areas surrounding the Nam Khan 2 and Nam Khan 3 Hydropower Plants. The visit focused on communities that had received livelihood restoration support during the implementation and construction of the hydropower projects.

The field visit was led by Mr. Siliphom Sengonkeo, Deputy Managing Director for Generation Department (COO) of EDL-Gen, together with Mr. Sommaly Khamkeng, Vice President of the Luang Prabang Provincial People’s Council, and Mr. Soukdavanh Phanchakkhan, Secretary of the Xieng Ngeun District Party Committee, accompanied by their delegations and representatives from relevant sectors.

During the visit, the delegation held a joint meeting and conducted an on-site assessment to follow up on the living conditions and livelihoods of local residents following the livelihood restoration measures implemented within the scope of the projects during the dam construction period. The delegation also listened to local residents and gathered information on their current livelihoods, adaptation, and overall living conditions.

The field visit also provided an opportunity for EDL-Gen and local authorities to meet and exchange information directly with community members, enabling the delegation to gain a clearer understanding of actual conditions on the ground. The information collected during the visit will serve as supporting information for continued monitoring and follow-up activities.

The visit reflects EDL-Gen’s continued emphasis on coordination with government and local authorities, as well as its ongoing attention to the livelihoods and well-being of communities surrounding its hydropower facilities
