EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) continued its commitment to enhancing employees’ knowledge and professional skills by organizing a training program entitled “ISO 9001:2026 Process Approach, Risk-Based Thinking and Quality Culture & Ethics, and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).” The training focused on interconnected work processes, risk analysis, and effective operational risk management.

The program was held from 5–7 October 2026 at the Main Meeting Room, 1st Floor, Electricité du Laos (EDL). Employees from various departments and hydropower plants under EDL-Gen’s management participated both in person and online.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Phokhine Apphay, Deputy Managing Director, CAO of EDL-Gen, in the presence of department directors and training participants. The training sessions were conducted by Mr. Watchara Sripan, a lecturer and consultant specializing in Quality Management Systems, Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Management, together with his team.

This training program followed the previous session entitled “ISO 9001:2026 DIS / Update Key Change Points and Internal Quality Management System Auditing,” organized by EDL-Gen on 7–8 September 2026. The earlier program focused on understanding key changes to the ISO 9001 standard and internal quality management system auditing. Building on that foundation, the latest training emphasized process management, risk-based thinking, quality culture, and professional ethics in daily operations.

The key training topics included the Process Approach, enabling employees to understand the interrelationships between organizational processes, and Risk-Based Thinking, which focuses on identifying and assessing potential risks. The program also emphasized the importance of promoting a strong quality culture and ethical practices throughout the organization.

In addition, participants received theoretical and practical training in essential risk management and workplace safety tools, including Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Kiken Yochi Training (KYT). These tools are designed to strengthen employees’ capabilities in identifying workplace hazards, analyzing and prioritizing risks, establishing preventive measures, and systematically planning safe and effective operations.

Throughout the three-day program, participants actively exchanged knowledge and professional experiences. They also took part in practical workshops focusing on risk analysis and action plan development, enabling them to apply the knowledge and techniques acquired to actual work processes within their respective departments and hydropower plants.

During the closing ceremony, Ms. Phokhine emphasized:

“Quality and safety are not merely about documentation or compliance with requirements. They are fundamental elements of workplace culture that everyone must collectively cultivate and consistently put into practice in their daily work.”

She further encouraged participants to turn knowledge into action, adopt a proactive mindset by shifting from problem-solving to preventive measures, and uphold a strong quality culture alongside professional ethics, accountability, and transparency in performing their duties.

The training reflects EDL-Gen’s continued commitment to human resource development, strengthening its Quality Management System, and fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.

Through this initiative, EDL-Gen aims to ensure that employees can effectively apply the knowledge and practical tools gained from the training to their daily responsibilities, contributing to risk reduction, accident prevention, improved operational efficiency, and the organization’s long-term sustainable development
