On February 3 and 5, 2026, the Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant, managed by EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen), proudly welcomed teachers and students from the Lycée Français International de Vientiane Josué-Hoffet (LFIV).

The visit aimed to provide students with a first-hand look at the process of generating clean electricity through hydropower.

To ensure safety and a comprehensive learning experience, the visit was organized into two sessions:

Group 1 (Feb 3): 50 students from Grades 4B and 4C.

Group 2 (Feb 5): 26 students from Grade 4A.

The Vital Importance of Experiential Learning for Future Leaders

Allowing students to step outside the classroom and into a "living laboratory" is essential for their academic and personal growth:

Bridging Theory and Practice: Seeing the massive turbines and the mechanics of the dam helps students grasp complex scientific concepts and the reality of renewable energy in a way books cannot.

Fostering Environmental Stewardship: By observing how natural water resources are managed to power a nation, children develop a deeper respect for the environment and an understanding of sustainable living.

Inspiring Future Career Paths: These real-world encounters spark curiosity. Today's visitors may well be tomorrow’s engineers, environmental scientists, or energy experts who will drive the future of Laos.

EDL-Gen remains firmly committed to supporting national education. We believe that by opening our doors to the youth, we are investing in the knowledge and potential of the next generation of Lao citizens
