From February 4–5, 2026, EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) hosted a specialized technical training session on "Enhancing Technical Capacity for Environmental and Community Works" at the Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant.

The training featured expert guest speakers from the Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

The primary objectives of this 2-day workshop were:

• Capacity Building: To empower field staff and technical officers with a deeper understanding of environmental impact management.

• Regulatory Compliance: To ensure staff are well-versed in legal frameworks, environmental monitoring standards, and community engagement protocols.

• Knowledge Exchange: To provide a platform for technical teams and experts to share practical lessons and address real-world operational challenges.

At EDL-Gen, we recognize that hydropower development is a key driver of national economic growth. However, we remain committed to balancing industrial progress with environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

For us, true "success" is only achieved when our projects lead to sustainable natural resource use and improved livelihoods for the communities surrounding our dams.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Inpanh Borihane, Acting Director of Administration Department at EDL-Gen, and Mr. Laeongen Chanthabouly, Director of Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant, alongside technical staff and participants from various hydropower plants under EDL-Gen’s management.
