EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) organized an environmental awareness activity for students at Vang Heua Primary Village School, Thoulakhom District, Vientiane Province, a school located in the surrounding area of the Nam Mang 3 Hydropower Plant.
The activity was led by Ms. Chittana Keolavong, Assistant Director of Secretary and Corporate Governance Department, representing EDL-Gen, together with representatives from the Environment Division, the management and team of the Nam Mang 3 Hydropower Plant, teachers, and students.
The activity forms part of EDL-Gen’s environmental and community initiatives, which aim to enhance knowledge and understanding and raise awareness among children and local communities about the importance of jointly conserving natural resources and protecting the environment.
Previously, from 12–15 May 2026, EDL-Gen’s Environment and Community Department conducted field visits to collect information on student numbers and assess the needs of Vang Heua Village School and Pa Paek Village School in Thoulakhom District, Vientiane Province.
Following a review of the information collected and requests submitted by the schools, EDL-Gen identified two key activities to provide support.
The first activity involved providing materials for school roof repairs, including galvanized roofing sheets, roof tiles, and other necessary materials for primary Schools of Pa Paek and Vang Heua Villages. The repair work was carried out in cooperation with representatives of the Nam Mang 3 Hydropower Plant, village authorities, and teachers from 23–24 July 2026, and was successfully completed.
The second activity focused on providing environmental education and raising awareness among students at Vang Heua Village School.
The activity was designed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of hydropower generation, the importance of ecosystems, the protection of forests and water resources, the conservation of natural resources, appropriate land use, and the impacts of deforestation in watershed areas.
During the activity, students were encouraged to actively participate in learning sessions, answer questions, and exchange ideas. This interactive approach aimed to help them apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and become involved in environmental conservation from an early age. EDL-Gen also presented learning materials and snacks to the participating students.
On this occasion, Ms. Chittana expressed her pleasure that the company could contribute to supporting education and sharing knowledge about energy and the environment with young students. She also expressed hope that the knowledge gained through the activity would help foster greater awareness among students and encourage them to appreciate, protect, and conserve their natural resources.
The activity reflects EDL-Gen’s commitment to conducting its operations alongside community development, educational support, and environmental awareness and conservation.
Through these efforts, EDL-Gen aims to help build a strong foundation for children to grow into responsible members of society who can contribute to the conservation of natural resources and the sustainable development of their communities.
