To ensure sustainable and environmentally friendly electricity generation operations, EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) has continued to focus on implementing its environmental management, monitoring, and inspection plans.
Recently, a technical team from EDL-Gen’s Environment and Community Department carried out fieldwork together with a consulting company, LID ESIA Sole Co., Ltd., at hydropower plants under EDL-Gen’s responsibility, including Nam khan2-3, Namsana, Nam mang 3, Houay Lamphan Gnai, Xeset 1-2, Xeset 3, Selabam, and Nam Leuk hydropower plants.
This field mission focused on two main areas:
1. Social Work: Consultation meetings were held and socio-economic data was collected from local authorities, agriculture and environment departments/offices, and village committees in communities surrounding the hydropower plants. The purpose was to monitor impacts and systematically promote community development.
2. Environmental Work: The team inspected water quality in upstream and downstream areas of the dams using modern equipment, the Horiba U-52G, to measure parameters such as temperature, pH level, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen in the water. In addition, data on wind and noise levels was also collected around the powerhouses and staff residential areas.
EDL-Gen remains committed to being a leader in clean energy with responsibility toward society and nature, in order to create maximum and sustainable benefits for the nation and the Lao people.
