Since construction began in 1968, the project has evolved through five major expansion phases, growing from an initial capacity of 30 megawatts (MW) to 275 MW today.
The Exhibition Hall was established to safeguard historical data, rare photographs, and antique equipment that illustrate:
- The Evolution of Construction: From the pioneering stages to the implementation of modern technology in capacity expansion.
- Leadership and Guidance: Documenting significant milestones where high-level Party and Government leaders provided close guidance during various eras.
- Perseverance and Dedication: Honoring the hard work and sacrifices of the employees and workers who dedicated themselves to providing light to society.
“This exhibition hall will become a vital learning center for future generations of employees, students, and the general public, both domestic and international. It will allow them to understand the deep value and significance of Nam Ngum 1 toward our nation's socio-economic development,” the CEO of EDL-Gen added.
As the project manager, EDL-Gen reaffirmed its commitment to managing Nam Ngum 1 with security and stability, ensuring efficient and sustainable power production to honor the legacy established by previous generations.
