The Environmental and Community Division team of EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) conducted continuous fieldwork during September 29 – October 3, 2025 and October 15-17, 2025 to monitor and inspect water quality at the hydropower Plants under our management.

Main Objectives of the Field Visit:

We conducted detailed water quality inspections at 7 hydropower Plants:

• Nam Khan 2-3 Hydropower Plant

• Nam Sana Hydropower Plant

• Nam Xong Hydropower Plant

• Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Plant

• Nam Mang 3 Hydropower Plant

• Nam Chien Hydropower Plant

• Nam Luek Hydropower Plant

This inspection collected comprehensive water quality data from upstream reservoirs, downstream of power plants, as well as water used by employees in their daily lives.

Results:

We used high-standard water quality testing equipment, the HORIBA U-50, to ensure data accuracy.

Most water quality values are within the established standards! This is a good sign demonstrating that our environmental management is effective.

Importance of Monitoring:

The data collected during this inspection is crucial for EDL-Gen’s long-term management.

We will use this data to:

1. Record and Compare: Serve as evidence of annual water quality for each plant, compared with results from international laboratories and various water supply branches.

2. Include in the 2025 Annual Report for the Department of Environment, Department of Water Resources, and relevant sectors to confirm regulatory compliance monitoring.

3. Prevent and Resolve: If contamination from other activities is detected that could cause fish deaths or affect public health, we can issue warnings and find solutions promptly!
