Vientiane Capital, May 30, 2025 – EDL- Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen), in collaboration with Nam Mang 3 Hydropower Plant (HPP), organized a tree planting and fish releasing ceremony at Nam Mang 3 HPP in Thoulakhom District, Vientiane Province. This event was held to commemorate the 101st International Children’s Day and the 45th National Arbor Day.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Soulivath Souvannachoumkham, Chairman of the EDL-Gen Board of Directors and Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Chanthaboun Soukaloun, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines; Mr. Souksavart Sosouphanh, CEO of EDL-Gen; Mrs. Vongdeuane Vattasou, Chief of Thoulakhom District; along with invited guests from central, provincial, district, and surrounding village levels.
For this year’s event, a total of 500 tree saplings were planted in the area behind the power house, including rosewood, Fang daeng (Afzelia xylocarpa), khaen (Sindora siamensis), and kha nyung (Dalbergia cochinchinensis).
Additionally, 20,000 fish, including Pa Nuan Chan (Cirrhinus microlepis), Pa Ket Laep (Mystus mysticetus), Mekong giant catfish (Pa Beuk), common carp (Pa Nai), and Pa Pak, were released into the regulating pond downstream of the hydropower house.
Over the past 15 years, EDL-Gen has initiated tree planting campaigns across its various hydropower plants, resulting in over 80,000 trees covering nearly 90 hectares and the release of more than 700,000 fish back into nature (excluding annual plantings by individual HPPs).
Beyond Nam Mang 3 HPP, other hydropower plants under EDL-Gen’s management have also organized similar tree planting and fish releasing activities, all contributing to building a brighter and more sustainable green future for the nation.
