Hauylamphan Ngai Hydro power plant issued a notice to release water from its reservoirs through its spillway gate, starting from 11:00 AM on October 17, 2021 to midnight on October 22, 2021.
The hydropower plant opened its spillway gate to release water in order to keep water in safety level.

The notice informed sectors involved and local people, who live along Huaylamphan river (particularly those who are living downstream of Huaylamphan river to lower Huaylamphan). If possible, people should avoid find for their living in the river. They should feed their animals in a safe place from such river.
In case of releasing massive water, the update notice will be announced.
The releasing of water stated at 11:00 AM on October 17, 2021 to midnight on October 22, 2021. About 55,47 cubic of water per second were released through the project’s spillway.
After midnight on October 22, 2021, the volume of water to be released should be matched to both the inflow of water to reservoir and water through turbines of the hydropower plant in order to keep the dam safety until 25 October 2021.
To prepare the opening spillway gate, EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) has issued a notice to Energy and Mines Division, Natural Resources and Environment Division of Sekong province, administration offices of Lamam and Thateng districts of Sekong province, villages of Thong Wai, Donsa, Nogkan, Hauydam Mai, Thonnoy, Sathour Neu, Sathour Tai and Lower Huaylamphan hydropower Plant.
Hauylamphan Ngai Hydro power plant, which is owned by EDL-Gen, is located at Thateng district of Sekong province. The project has installed capacity of 88 MW
