Generation Nam Ngum -1 HPP is back to normal
The water level at Nam Ngum -1 Hydropower Plant (NG1 HPP) on 28 October 2019 was recorded as 206,50 meter above sea level.
The volume of water in NG1 HPP’s reservoir was about 5,216 million cubic meters or 73,40 %. One of all six generators of NG1 HPP operates, releasing 47 cubic meters of water per second. Certainly electrical generation of NG-1 HPP was totally involved water in its reservoir. This year, water level was very low due to drought.
In case electricity was cut off suddenly on 23 October 2019, it was caused by explosion of 115/22kV power transformer at Thalath Substation.
The incident affected the turbine No 1 of NG1 HPP automatically, shut down for 12 minutes, which cut off electricity in Keo-Oudom and Viengkham districts, Vientiane province.
In addition, water level at downstream of NG-1 HPP’s powerhouse reduced dramatically, affecting the production of water supply in Keo Oudom Water Pumping Station.
Nam Ngum 1 HPP’s turbine No.1 normally restarted to generate electricity at 8:15 AM to release 47 cubic meters of water per second.
