The National Institute of Fine Arts of Laos visit Nam Ngum -1 HPP

EDL-Generation Public Company has led 20 people from The National Institute of Fine Arts of Laos visiting Nam Ngum -1 Hydropower Plant (HPP) in Keooudom District, Vientiane Province on 16 September 2017. The visitors are including directors, teachers and students those who won drawing contest on the topic of “Sustainable Power for the Nation“ that was held on 20 June 2017 at The National Institute of Fine Arts of Laos.
The purpose of the study visit was to enhance knowledge and understanding more on Lao PDR’s electricity generation, especially hydropower generation, dam management, environmental response and the expansion of the project from past to present as well as the future generation plan. Nam Ngum -1 HPP is the first large dam of Lao PDR with installed capacity of 155 MW and after the expansion project complete the total installed capacity will be 275 MW.
Therefore, the guests had chance to learn on the background of the dam through the presentation of HPP’s deputy director and had an opportunity to visit inside powerhouse such as control room, the turbine area, visit the expansion project unit 7 and 8. Moreover the visitors had great opportunity to get on the boat and sailing around Nam Ngum reservoir to enjoy the beautiful scenario.
