Contract Agreement Signing Ceremony of Nam Bi Hydropower Construction Project
On November 18th, 2015; there was a contract agreement signing ceremony of Nam Bi Hydropower Construction Project between Nam Bi Power Company (project owner) and Power China Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited (contractor). This ceremony was held at the Meeting Hall of Landmark Hotel Vientiane with the signing representatives were Dr. Bounsalorng Southidara, Nam Bi Power Company’s Chairman of Board of Directors and Mr. Zhang Jian Yue, President and CEO of Power China Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited. Furthermore, the ceremony was honorably attended by Dr. Khammany Inthirath, Minister of Energy and Mines; Mr. Leklhai Sivilay, Vice Provincial Governor of Sekong province; Mr. Guan Huabin, Chinese Ambassador to Laos; and honorable invited guests from public and private sectors.
Nam Bi Hydropower Construction Project is located in Dakjeung district, Sekong province. The construction project duration and cost is 5 years and 272 million U$ respectively. After the completion of the construction project, Nam Bi hydropower plant will have the total installed capacity of 135 MW which will be able to produce 680 GWh per year to EDL as a distributor domestically.
Nam Bi Power Company is established under the joint venture between EDL-Generation Public Company or EDL-Gen (shares of 80%) and Chanthavone Bridge and Road Construction and Maintenance Company Limited in order to develop Nam Bi Hydropower project (BOT). After the concession agreement’s term is done, Nam Bi Hydropower Plants will be transferred back to the assets of Lao government. Moreover, Power China Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited, the top engineering corporation of China, will be the only contractor which to be responsible for all the construction management.
Nam Bi Hydropower Plants will be another valuable assets of Lao PDR which to help contributing to the development of socio-economic condition of the country that benefits to Lao citizen especially to the people of Sekong province as the nation to gradually develop and civilize.
